Course work Subjects

Each student is required to pass 12 units of course work, generally in the form of four 3 unit subjects. Students must do three postgraduate (CP5XXX) subjects offered by the department. In addition, EL1010 (composition) must be taken. A maximum of one previously studied subject may be allowed to count towards Honours. If you wish to take a subject taught by another department, permission of your supervisor and the Course Coordinator must be obtained. Permission will only be granted if the subject is directly related to your project work.

The postgraduate course work subjects offered by the department cover important and interesting areas of Computer Science which are not taught in the undergraduate degree. The following postgraduate course work subjects will be available in 2004:

  1. CP5080: (1st semester)
  2. CP5090 (1st semester)
  3. CP5110: Cryptography (2nd semester)
  4. CP5170: (2nd semester)

Honours students must enrol in CP4060 (thesis: 12 units)

and in each of the four subjects.
