- 3%
- Structure.
The document should have a coherent structure rather than just being a
listing of references and summaries. Ordinarily the structure should
be based on the points of intersection between the students' project
and the existing related work. The review should give enough
information about the project so that the structure can be motivated
but this document is not a rehash of the project plan.
- 5%
- Relevance.
The review should be approached from the point of view of the project
on which the student is working. Reviewed literature must be relevant
to the project for some reason and that relevance should be discussed
so as to put the project in context.
- 7%
- Adequacy of coverage.
Are the major works in the area covered to an appropriate depth? Too
much depth can bad too (we want a review not a detailed survey). If
the reader is not familiar with the area then this mark should be a
measure of whether enough information was given to enable the context
to be established by a non-expert.
- 5%
- Writing style, grammar, presentation etc.
