  1. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Industry Professional) program provides the 'highly specialised technical skill sets' required of the software engineer, for whom the cost-effective development of complex and demanding software systems is paramount. It includes the computing science of software development, Internetworking and industry oriented project work, as well as industry certification preparation in major technologies including Cisco CCNA. Students learn web design, computer graphics (for animation, games, simulations etc). Graduates will be ready for rewarding professional careers in the high demand core IT industries, anywhere in the world, including the networking, multimedia, and gaming industry. Entry will normally require an OP 12 with a Sound Achievement in English and Maths B.
  2. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Multimedia Game Development) program provides breadth of game specific creative design skills within the framework of IT software development. Importantly, it includes core IT software skills so that graduates are ready for rewarding professional careers not only in the Games industry, but also in IT intensive industries, anywhere in the world. Australian entry will normally require an OP 12 with a sound achievement in English, and Maths B. The 2nd and 3rd years are not available in Townsville - students must complete their degree in Cairns.
  3. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Bioinformatics) is for higher performing students interested in biotechnology careers. Bioinformatics is the application of computing science in the rapidly expanding, high profile biotechnology industry. This program develops specialist skill in both software development and the biological sciences, and will produce graduates able to apply leading edge computing science techniques to produce new biotechnology products for Australia's emerging bioinformatics industry. Entry will normally require an OP 9 and a Sound Achievement in chemistry, English and Maths B.
  4. The Bachelor of Information Technology (E-business Entrepreneurship) will produce highly technically skilled software engineers who also have basic business acumen and entrepreneurial skills. The course suits those highly motivated students who have the ambition to take an entrepreneurial role in developing on-line businesses. Students mount prototype e-business ventures live on an e-business incubator facility, providing graduates with real 'e-business credibility'. Graduates will typically work in any highly Internet centric industry. Entry will normally require an OP 10 with a Sound Achievement in English and Maths B.
  5. The Bachelor of Information Technology (General Computing) program provides the skill sets required of the IT software engineer, with enough flexibility to include a range of science, business and engineering electives. The core consists of software development, Internetworking, project work and industry technology certification preparation. Entry will normally require an OP 13 with a Sound Achievement in English and a Sound Achievement in Maths B is also desirable.
  6. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Specific Application) provides the skill sets required of the software engineer, plus up to six subjects are taken from a wide range of specific fields of application, e.g. from journalism, law, sociology, etc. The IT core consists of software development, internetworking, and project work, and industry technology certification preparation. The specific application is selected from the list provided here. Entry will normally require an OP13 with a Sound Achievement in English, and a Sound Achievement in Maths B is also desirable.
  7. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Computer Technology) provides a combination of topics on IT and the electronic engineering of computer systems. It suits those seeking a balance of hardware and software systems expertise, for a career in the computer manufacturing and embedded systems industry. Entry will normally require an OP 13 with a Sound Achievement in English and a Sound Achievement in Maths B is also desirable.
  8. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Computing) program provides a combination of IT topics and business operations topics, and suits those seeking a business software systems development career. Entry will normally require an OP 13 with a Sound Achievement in English and a Sound Achievement in Maths B is also desirable.
  9. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Geographic Information Systems) program provides a combination of IT and geography subjects, and suits those seeking a career applying IT in industries based on natural resources. Entry will normally require an OP 13 with a Sound Achievement in English and a Sound Achievement in Maths B is also desirable.

Graduates are prepared for careers in a wide range of scientific or technological fields.
